Monroe County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is delighted to announce donations totaling $18,000 from the Monroe County 100+ Women Who Care group. At their February 2016 meeting, the 100+ Women Who Care group selected CASA as the recipient for their quarterly award. CASA will also receive a $10,000 match from other community donors. To date, the 100+ Women Who Care group has contributed nearly $450,000 to different not-for-profits in Monroe County since the group was founded in November 2011.
Monroe County CASA is a volunteer-powered program which provides representation in juvenile court for child victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. The program recruits, screens, trains, and supervises adult community members who volunteer their time to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs), with full legal authority set forth by the State of Indiana. CASAs provide advocacy to child victims to ensure that they remain at the forefront of the court proceedings and find a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible. 100+ Women Who Care is open to all women who want to make a difference in Monroe County, and who agree to contribute $100 at each quarterly meeting. Each member also makes an annual commitment donation of $100 to the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, for a total annual commitment of $500. Women aged 35 and younger are invited to join at a reduced donation level – $50 annually to the CFBMC and $50 each quarter to the agency chosen at the group meeting, for a total annual commitment of $250.
